Why The Attorneys Are Not Happy With a Nonlawyer Divorce

attorney objecting
The Florida Bar published an article aimed at attorneys titled ‘Legal freegans’ are looking to ‘eat your lunch.’ (February 15, 2014) The article was focusing on nonlawyer entities “encroaching on the traditional practice of law.” Interestingly, the article praised the services provided by nonlawyer entities, stating that nonlawyer companies “can draft, in a matter of minutes, airtight, top-notch contracts, pulled together without the use of a lawyer” The article went on to say, “They are really not doing anything that a law firm could not be doing right now…”

So what’s the problem? Why are the lawyers so upset with nonlawyers encroaching on the “traditional practice of law?” Why all the concern and hand-wringing? It all boils down to one thing: money. The article says, “One of the challenges is that these nonlawyer companies are offering the same services as lawyers at a much lower or the same cost…Services are offered ‘at a fraction of the cost,’ of traditional law firms.”

That’s precisely what we do. Peace Plan Divorce provides a nonlawyer divorce at a fraction of the cost of a law firm.

One of the many benefits of using Peace Plan Divorce  is that you can avoid costly litigation, which is where many attorneys make their money. Companies like Peace Plan Divorce can be perceived to be a threat to law firms because, as the article points out, nonlawyer services, “will be seen by the public as something that improves access to justice and legal services, which will make it difficult for lawyers to make the case that these types of services should not be offered.” EXACTLY!

Please visit us at: PeacePlanDivorce.com to see how much you can save. No wonder the attorneys are not happy!
